Pilates Class

Looking for a Pilates class in Hong Kong that challenges your body and quietens your mind at the same time? Step into the Mycelium, XYZ’s infrared movement room in the heart of Central. Slow, precise sequences, intentional breath and music that keeps you moving carry you through every class. Choose deep warmth directly under the infrared panels or a cooler spot for a milder session. Every class is open to all levels. Whether you are trying Pilates for the first time or refining years of practice, you will leave feeling longer, stronger and more connected to your body.

Pilates Classes at Our Studio in Central

Every Pilates class at XYZ takes place in the Mycelium, a room built around the warmth of infrared panels and designed to bring your full attention back to how you move.

Our Pilates inspired classes sit within our Sculpt programme. They are mat based and low impact, and they use minimal but intentional equipment. We offer four formats, each with its own rhythm and purpose.

Class types

Sculpt & Tone

A low impact, Pilates inspired workout focused on balance, control, breath work and full body strength. Using bands, yoga balls and yoga blocks, expect slow, controlled movement designed to lengthen, strengthen and improve stability. The ideal starting point for anyone new to Pilates.

Sculpt & Strength

Take Sculpt & Tone to the next level. Light to medium dumbbells and ankle weights add resistance to continuous, rhythm based flow sequences. A great choice if you want to build strength, endurance and control without heavy lifting.

Pilates X Core

A rhythm driven Pilates workout that activates your deep core through controlled movement and intentional flow. Strong beats, precise Pilates foundations and full core engagement challenge you from within. Perfect for anyone who wants a stronger, more stable centre.

Barre

Barre, the XYZ method, is a signature class combining ballet and Pilates inspired movement in a low impact format. Musical flow and precise sequencing refine posture, build strength and sharpen body control. It is elegant, effective and memorable.

Not sure which to choose? Start with Sculpt & Tone to learn the foundations, then move on to Pilates X Core or Sculpt & Strength once you want more challenge.

The moment class begins, the city outside falls away.

The infrared panels warm the room from above, easing your muscles into each movement. You choose your own experience. Set your mat directly under the panels for deep heat, or find a cooler spot for a gentler session that is just as challenging.

Your instructor guides every transition with clear cues on breath, alignment and control. Every movement has a purpose, and small adjustments make a big difference. The pace may be slow, but your muscles will tell you otherwise.

Your phone stays in the locker, so the only thing to focus on is the next breath and the next movement.

Students often describe the same arc:

  • An opening that connects breath to movement and wakes up the core
  • A build through controlled sequences as the muscles begin to burn
  • A peak of precise, sustained work where focus and strength meet
  • A closing stretch that lengthens the body and settles the mind

It is this balance of effort and stillness that makes a group Pilates class so rewarding. Be as one is more than a phrase here. It is how the Mycelium feels when the whole room breathes and moves together.

Inside the Mycelium: What a Pilates Class Feels Like

Benefits of a Regular Pilates Class HK Students Notice

Our founder Belinda Koo believes we are all born to move, and that all you need is to give yourself 50 minutes a day.

Pilates is one of the most sustainable ways to put that into practice, because it trains your body without wearing it down.

Core strength

Deep abdominal and back muscles learn to support your spine through every movement.

Better posture

Alignment cues help counter the effects of long hours at a desk in Central.

Low impact on joints

Controlled, mat based work strengthens the body without jumping or pounding.

Balance and stability

Small stabilising muscles get as much attention as the large ones.

Mind and body connection

Breath led movement leaves you calmer and more focused afterwards.

Support for other training

A stronger core and better control carry over to running, cycling and lifting.
Many of our regulars take two or three Pilates classes a week and notice the difference in how they sit, stand and carry themselves, not just in the studio.

The Mycelium welcomes every level of student. Your instructor gives options and modifications throughout, so you control your own effort from start to finish.

Pilates is a strong fit if you:

  • Want to build core strength and improve posture
  • Prefer controlled, mindful movement to high impact workouts
  • Are returning to exercise and need a gentle, low impact option
  • Already train hard and want better stability and body control

For a balanced week, pair your Pilates classes with heated strength training to build muscle. Then use our infrared mobility and recovery sessions or warm yoga and mindfulness classes to release tension and restore your body.

You can also get to know the coaches behind each class on our meet the instructors page.

Who Our Pilates Class Is For

Your First Pilates Class at XYZ

A first class should feel welcoming, not intimidating. Here is how it works.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early. This gives you time to settle in, prepare your mat and choose your spot in the room. Latecomers cannot be admitted once class begins.
  • Choose your heat. Set up directly under the infrared panels for deep warmth, or in a cooler spot for a milder experience.
  • Find your equipment ready. Mats and the props you need for each class are provided.
  • Store your phone in the locker. The studio is a phone free space, so you can give the class your full attention.
  • Move at your own pace. Focus on form before range or speed. Nobody expects perfection on day one.

Wear form fitting, comfortable athletic clothing so your instructor can easily check your alignment. You can practise barefoot or wear grip socks for extra stability, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated in the warmth.

FAQs About Pilates Class in Hong Kong

Do you offer reformer Pilates?
Our Pilates classes are mat based and use small equipment such as bands, yoga balls, yoga blocks, dumbbells and ankle weights. This approach builds strength and control through your own body weight and precise movement. You do not need a reformer machine to feel the full challenge of Pilates.

Yes. Every class is open to all levels, and Sculpt & Tone is the ideal place to start. Your instructor offers clear guidance and modifications throughout, so you can learn the foundations and build confidence at your own pace.

The Mycelium is warmed by infrared panels, which helps your muscles relax into each movement. You choose your experience, with deep heat under the panels or a cooler spot away from them. Music and precise coaching keep every sequence focused and engaging.

Not at all. You control the intensity of the warmth by choosing where you place your mat. If you prefer a milder experience, simply take a spot away from the panels and bring plenty of water.

Two to three classes a week suits most people and gives your body time to adapt. If you practise more often, alternate stronger formats like Sculpt & Strength with gentler classes and recovery work.

Many people find that a stronger core and better alignment help them sit and stand more comfortably. If you have back pain, an injury or a medical condition, check with your doctor first and let your instructor know before class so they can offer modifications.

Absolutely. Pilates is for everyone, regardless of gender or fitness background. Athletes in particular use it to build deep core strength, balance and control that support their other training.

Cancellations made less than 12 hours before class, and no shows, will result in the class being deducted from your account. You can read the full details in our cancellation policy.
